About

PoliteAdjacent is a personal brand doing the decidedly unladylike thing of talking openly about money.

How we spend it, how we don’t, and why that matters.

My name is Claire (she/they) and I am a queer bisexual woman living a simple, minimalist life alongside my husband in Alberta, Canada.

Since moving in together in 2017, my husband and I have tracked every dollar we earn and spend.

Our ongoing goal?

Figuring out what we actually need to build a full life entirely on our own terms.

The simplest, most overlooked path to financial freedom isn’t necessarily making more money...

It’s spending and not spending money intentionally.

The only way to truly build wealth is to not spend all your money.

We’re unlearning consumerism and redefining what success looks like for ourselves.

With this blog, I share our intentional spending decisions, the big splurges we do make, and the daily practice of saying “no” to stuff in a world that constantly encourages us to buy more.

It’s not always easy, and it’s definitely not always polite, but it’s honest.

Thank you for joining me and reading about our ongoing story!

Did you know?

Claire is working on a romance novel behind the scenes and is experimenting with their fiction writing openly through Vocal Media to flex their creative muscles in new ways throughout the process.
